Development in Ways that Respect the Environment.
Here is a piece I wrote for Thrive Global that explores how New York City needs to think about development in terms of what the land can withstand, rather than what developers find most profitable. In the past year I became involved in advocating for a toxic but beloved neighborhood, Gowanus, Brooklyn. Creative communities had worked for years to make it a vibrant community in spite of substantial environmental challenges. Then the developers moved in and its vibrancy, the health and well-being of the community and the land, are at risk. Read more about how this neighborhood provides a wonderful opportunity to do things wisely and differently.
